Refresh

This week we are also taking a look back at some of our favorite posts from the past.

We want to thank our subscriber, Kara, for this week's tip. Kara forwarded along an email about all the great uses for cucumbers. Here are some ways the cool veggie/fruit comes in handy:
  • Cucumbers contain most of the essential daily vitamins. Just one contains: Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Zinc.
  • Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror. It will eliminate fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance

  • We all know what it feels like once 2:30 rolls around! Rather than grabbing for a soda or refilling your coffee, try munching on some cucumber slices. You can also add them to your water.

  • Try rubbing a slice of cucumber (I would just peel the thing and use it all!) along your problem areas for a few minutes before hitting the pool or beach. The phytochemicals in cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten. This one sounds too good to be true. We will have to do some further research and get back to you about the results!

  • Stressed out and don't have time or money for a massage or spa visit? Cut up an entire cucumber (You can use the one you just rubbed along your thighs and butt-cheeks..haha!) and place it in a pot of boiling water. The chemicals and nutrients react with the boiling water and are released in the steam providing a soothing, relaxing aroma.

  • Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins, and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients. Judging by how my Monday went, I should know whether this is true by Thursday!

  • For a "green" way to clean your faucets and sinks, rub a slice of cucumber along the surfaces you need to clean. It will remove tarnish and bring back the shine... at least for a little while until your boyfriend, husband, or roommate comes along and gets water everywhere!
We would love to hear whether these tips work for you!

With love from the West Coast,

xoxo

  1. No way! I thought they were the nutritional equivalent to water. I had no idea. I'm going to get some extra cukes in my grocery cart for sure.
Ok, so after you do the boiling water/cut up cuke deal, do you steam your face? Or is it just for the aroma?

    Thanks LBD!

  2. It is good for both...primarily steam, but aroma is supposed to be soothing.
