Get the Skinny From Haute Chocolate's Designer

I am more than ecstatic to not have only received a dress creation from Haute Chocolate, but to be able to ask the Designer & Founder of Haute Chocolate herself, Terysa Ridgeway a few questions that were on my mind. 





 1)When did your love affair with Fashion begin?

I've always been infatuated with fashion, for just about as long as I can remember. Coming from a fashionable mama, I've always been surrounded by pretty things - hehe







2)How did you come up with the clever name Haute Chocolate?

As much as it seems that I should give you some awesomely long story, it's actually pretty short.  When I was expecting my first child (in the summer) I was overly obsessed with Chocolate, but more specifically Hot Chocolate - everyone thought I was completely nuts!! One night as I was sketching and drinking hot chocolate - the light bulb in my head started flickering and the rest is history...



3)What is a typical day for you like?

Well, I usually wake up pretty early - so I usually will check for any new orders and then interact with my social networks.  After that, family duties come in to FULL effect - making breakfast, packing lunches, defrosting dinner :)  Then I'm off to my "real" job. After work, it's usually snack time and then nap time for the babies- which usually is just enough time to start fulfilling orders for Haute Chocolate. Once they wake and Daddy's home we'll eat dinner + goof around until it's time for them to go to bed for the night. I fulfill more orders until I start to doze and then call it a night.  I usually keep a sketch pad around all day, because I never know when an idea will pop into my already filled brain - and then do it all over again!




4)Which piece is your favorite...if you are even able to choose?  

I know, so hard to chose - but I'll go with a classic.  Our Mocha pants suit for SS2013.  Oh my goodness, the flared bottom are my absolute favorite, I think I was a hippie in my past life - I live and die for all wide leg pants.  The structured top works so well with it too because its so fitted.  I love the fact that it can go from work to play with the unsnapping of two buttons.  I wear the back buttoned up at work and unbuttoned when out and about - I love the subtle sexiness of an exposed back - which you'll see throughout SS2013.

5)What was your most memorable moment from the RAW Fashion Awards?

The night before, OMG!! After about 4-5 attempts at this lace maxi dress that I presented - I accidentally ripped a hole huge enough that the dress was unusable.  I had to start completely over from scratch.  So yeah, that night - no sleep!  I was really happy with the final product though, actually now that I think of it - I loved it more than the other 6.

             

6)Do you sleep?

Of course, within the 5 minutes of fulfilling and sending orders, lol!


7)What's your "haute" beverage of choice?

Chocolate - you'd think after drinking several cups over the course of 9 months I'd be completely over it - NOT!  I have a huge box stashed away that I bought at Costco :)


8)What are two things in your handbag that you cannot live without?

My cell phone and my lip gloss.
