Wedding Guests Q&A

We have searched around and compiled the top three most common Q&As that wedding guests have.

Q: How much do I give?

A: Don't Spend Less Than $50.  The old rule of using the price-per-plate as a measure for how much you should spend on the wedding gift is out.  Spend what you think is appropriate to your relationship to the couple, and also consider what's reasonable in your city. According to The Knot, here's the ballpark you should be aiming for:

Coworker and/or a distant family friend or relative: $50-$75
Relative or friend: $75-$100
Close relative or close friend: $100-$150+

Q: How long do I have to buy/give them a wedding gift?

A: This is a tricky one, some say the day of the wedding while others say the rule is one year.   However, we all know if you do not purchase the gift within a few months of the wedding the likelihood you will remember starts to decrease.

Q: Do I need to invite my boss to my wedding?

A: First of all, keep in mind that you're never required to invite anyone. It is a nice gesture to invite your respective bosses, especially if you have good relationships with them. And there is always the chance that he won't come, especially if he doesn't know you guys very well personally and it's a large, impersonal office.

We hope this helped provide some clarity.
